The proper installation and maintenance of irrigation systems helps ensure systems are running efficiently so precious water resources are not wasted. North Carolina requires that a licensed Irrigation Contractor does any and all maintaining and installs of irrigation systems in most cases. 

It is recommended that irrigation systems are inspected and maintained one or two times a year, typically just before the system is turned on for the first time of the year in the spring time. It is also recommended to have it inspected and maintained somewhere around the middle of the summer months. In some instances, depending on the size and/or complexity of the system, more than twice a year may be recommended.

Since it is recommended that customers run their irrigation around 5 or 6 AM, most people do not see their systems running.
